Hello Aztecs!

My name is Sergeant First Class David Mangiardi (Ret.), and I'm the Army JROTC instructor for Esperanza High School. I want to start off by saying what a great honor it is to once again put on the uniform and serve my community, my country and make a difference in young people’s lives. I retired in 2021 after 20 years of active-duty service. My military back ground is combat arms and my main job was M1A2 Abrams tank commander. I was deployed to Iraq 3 times and 2 to South Korea. I finished my career as a Observer Coach/ Trainer (OC/T) for 6 years, training and evaluating national guard for deployments around the world. After retiring I attended Fullerton College and completed my A.S in construction management.  I grew up here in Anaheim and surrounding cities where I went to Tustin HS and Loara HS.

My future plans for the program are to build a strong motivated group of cadets who take charge and lead themselves to success. With guidance Cadets will learn the basics of leadership, Critical thinking, communications, good citizenship, responsibility and respect for others.
